Description Seachem Flourish Excel – Organic Carbon for the planted aquarium Flourish Excel is chemically what is called an intermediary. This basically allows for a source of carbon to the plants without them having to work to convert CO2 to carbon – you might say food without the work!! A side benefit (which Seachem is not allowed to put on the label due to EPA guidelines in the USA) it that it interferes with the metabolic abilities of algae – IT DOES KILL ALGAE but does not harm plants though. Used at a regular does it will prevent a lot of algae and at a high dose (double to triple) it will kill various algae. The most susceptible are the black, hair, and beard forms. An excellent product which sells incredibly well!! Flourish Excel is a source of bioavailable organic carbon. All plants require a source of carbon. This is typically obtained from CO2 but may also be derived from simple organic compounds (such as photosynthetic intemediates). Therefore, one can derive a substantial benefit with the use of Flourish Excel. Dosage:- On initial use or after a major (>40%) water change, use 1 capful 5ml for every 40L (10 gallons). Thereafter use 1 capful for every 200L (50 gallons) daily or every other day.
